Joel Dumba, PresidentJoel Chrispo Dumba comes from South Sudan, the newest country in the world. He is the founder of Agape-Heart International organization (AHIO) and a founder of Western Pennsylvania International Community Church, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA. He was born in South Sudan. His parents were subsistence farmers; his mother died when he was six years old and his father died later. He has survived more than three decades of the South Sudan civil war. As a displaced person, he flied to Khartoum and Port Sudan to rescue his life and his family. Joel is married and blessed with four children. (Two boys and two girls)

With all the difficulties he went through, Joel is a resilient person; he was able to continue his education despite his hardships. He started his Doctorate in Public Health with major in Community Medicine from Walden University, but due to lack of financial support he couldn’t complete his program. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education with a major in Administrative and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, and a Bachelor’s Degree and a Diploma in Social Work from the Uganda Christian University of East Africa. He holds a certificate in Booking an Accounts from Pittman Institute of London, UK.
Currently, Joel is working as Service Coordinator with Enhanced Clinical Services Coordination program at Turtle Creek Valley Community Services Pittsburgh PA, USA. He is currently teaching English as second language to refugees at Literacy Pittsburgh Program. His work history includes: being a Case Manager at Mental Health Corporative, Nashville, Tennessee; serving as Material Handler at GEIODIS, Lebanon TN; working as Linguistic Consultant at Martin Technical Services, Lebanon Tennessee; being a Research Assistant at the University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA; and, serving as the State Director for South Sudan HIV/AIDS Commission, Juba, South Sudan and office Manager at Inter-Church Organization for Development Cooperation (ICCO), Juba, South Sudan.
Joel has successfully led national and international conferences and symposiums. He is an expert workshop trainer and seminar facilitator. Joel has been a consultant and provided leadership to government and non-governmental organizations. He was a national consultant on HIV/AIDS Policy, National Strategic Framework for South Sudan HIV/AIDS Commission. He has managed funds from, UNICEF, UNDP, IGAD, USAID, UNFPA, and multi-donor trust funds. He has valuable experience in health education management, project design and implementation with monitoring, evaluating and researching behavior change communication strategy. He has volunteered with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and with YMCA.
Joel is very interested in the integration of HIV/AIDS into educational curriculum, capacity building, good governance, conflict amelioration, indigenous education, cultural development, public relations, and leadership of organizational development, policy efficiency and higher education strategic planning. He is the co-author of Mapping Indigenous Paradigms: Research and practice in Indigenous Nations Higher Education Consortium for a Taiwan Journal of Indigenous Studies, Vol.6.No.1, 1-61 spring, 2013. Joel has written many children’s books, yet to be published. Joel loves music and dance.
